O Circo da Alegria de Toledo - PR. O circo social como ação educativa emancipatória

Abstract

This research is directly linked to the practice of social circus, understood as a methodology to build pedagogical dialogue between circus art and popular education focusing on the promoting citizenship and the transformation of social reality. (BARRIA, 2006). In this study, we started from the following guiding question: what are the contributions of the Circo da Alegria de Toledo – PR to the strengthening of the Social Circus? To answer it, we established as a general objective to understand the Circo da Alegria as a social methodology in line with popular education and, as specific objectives, to understand the relationship of the social circus with the education bases, to construct the institution socio-historical process in the Municipality and to reflect on its contributions to the social circus. To this end, we conducted qualitative and exploratory research using bibliographic and documentary sources, as well as field research with semi-structured interviews on a social platform, in remote mode. This research was conducted with the regional training centers coordinators of the Rede Circo do Mundo Brazil in the South, Southeast, Central-West and Northeast regions and with families, students, teachers and the management of the Anita Garibaldi Municipal School, as well as with the pedagogical coordinator, the social instructor and the general coordinator of the Circo da Alegria de Toledo/Paraná. As a result, we understand that the Circo da Alegria de Toledo-PR integrates the Social Circus as an Emancipatory Educational Action. Such action contributes to promoting individual and community transformations, that is, the social circus is a tool for social transformation which guarantees social and human rights for children, adolescents and young people.
