O trabalho das/os assistentes sociais no Instituto Federal do Paraná (IFPR): os princípios do Código de Ética da/o Assistente Social de 1993 em foco

Abstract

The present study's theme is the role of social workers at IFPR in relation to the ethical principles of the profession. In view of this, the main objective is to analyze the relationship between the professional work of social workers at the Federal Institute of Paraná and the principles of the Code of Ethics for Social Workers of 1993. As specific objectives were defined: to contextualize the emergence of Social Work and the changes that occurred in the Codes of Ethics of Social Workers in Brazil; to study the principles of the 1993 Code of Ethics for Social Workers; describe the historical context of the IFPR's socio-occupational space and its social intervention policy; to identify the demands, requests and professional responses of Social Services at IFPR. To achieve these objectives, the research was qualitative, exploratory in nature, with field research and bibliographic and documentary sources, in addition to semi-structured interviews. 20 (twenty) social workers participated in the research, working in 7 (seven) different sectors and in 20 (twenty) locations, from the rectory, campus and advanced campus. The research was organized into three axles: personal information and training; work at the Federal Institute of Paraná; and the principles of the 1993 Code of Ethics for Social Workers in professional responses. The analysis revealed that the ethical principles of the profession permeate the knowledge of professionals. However, barriers and limitations that compromise performance were identified, including the lack of autonomy and recognition of the profession at an institutional level. Considering research studies, it is essential to improve knowledge, analysis and discussion of ethical principles so that professional responses are qualified and aligned with the social objectives of the profession, from the perspective of professional qualification concomitant with the structuring of the profession in the socio-occupational space.
