Desenvolvimento sustentável: análise dos impactos da Usina Termelétrica de Biogás em Entre Rios do Oeste

Abstract

This research evaluates the environmental and socioeconomic impacts after the implementation of the Entre Rios do Oeste Thermoelectric Plant in Paraná. This has as its raw material Biogas, generated from swine waste. For the evaluation, 17 rural producers who supplied the raw material, biogas, were interviewed and followed the methodology of the Ambitec Bioenergy System, developed by Embrapa. It was identified that the reasons that led to the creation of the Plant in the region are based on Sustainable Economic Development, which seeks to balance social, economic and environmental indicators. As well, the reasons follow a recent trend of "Impact Business", which are companies willing to not achieve profit, so that the positive social and / or environmental impact is maximized. The main criteria for positive impacts were the reduction of emissions of gases and odors to the atmosphere, the institutional relationships created and the generation of income, as well as the benefits caused by the use of the biofertilizer by-product. The impacts assessed as negative were the increase in the consumption of electricity, as well as the dangerousness and noise in the workplace. In short, the impacts caused in the region were positive, with the environmental ones being more relevant than the socioeconomic ones.
