Abstract: This dissertation investigates the life trajectory of Albertina Borges da Rocha, born in 1930 and diagnosed with schizophrenia. Throughout her life, Albertina underwent four hospitalizations at the Instituto de Psiquiatria Adauto Botelho in Rio de Janeiro. However, more than being merely an object of psychiatry, Albertina became the narrator of her own experience by publishing, in 2003, the autobiography A História de Beta and, in 2012, Meu convívio com a esquizofrenia. This study adopts this narrative as its primary source, intertwining it with the history of madness and psychiatry in Brazil between the 1961s and 1984s, while problematizing the medicalization of gender and institutional practices. Based on an approach that considers patients' testimonies as legitimate historical documents, the dissertation analyzes how Albertina, through her writing, interrupts the tradition of silencing patient discourses and asserts authority over her own experience. Divided into three chapters, the work begins by analyzing Albertina's psychiatric institutionalization, discussing the schizophrenia diagnosis attributed to her; it then explores her engagement with occupational therapy and the workshops of the Museum of Images of the Unconscious, under the coordination of psychiatrist Nise da Silveira; finally, it examines her writing as an act of resistance and subjective reconstruction. Drawing from the historiography of madness and psychiatry, gender studies, and reflections on autobiographical testimonies, this study seeks to understand how Albertina despite being marked by a highly stigmatizing diagnosis reacted, re-signified, and rewrote her own story, challenging the boundaries between madness, authorship, and humanity.

Abstract: This study discusses the difficulties faced by the Itinerant Schools (EIs) in the Cajati Complex Camps in Cascavel, in Western Paraná, analyzing the difference between the education of the Landless Workers' Movement (MST) and the State's formal neoliberal model. From the encampment to the Settlement, the MST demonstrated that the organized struggle of the dispossessed was the path to land conquest. By developing its own Pedagogical Proposal, the Movement advocates for an Education of the Countryside and for the Countryside, aiming at the construction of a new social project. The study highlights the challenges faced in the transition of the EIs to formal Schools, as well as the community's resistance against the State's attempt to subordinate their Education to an entrepreneurial logic. The research analyzes the viewpoint of the people involved in the EIs' transition process—teachers, staff, and community members. By problematizing the administrative transition of the EIs as a historical process marked by disputes, the complexity of the forms of struggle and daily resistance undertaken by the community to maintain the Movement's Pedagogical Project was understood.

Abstract: In this research, we will analyze the religious discourses of the institutional religious denominations Assemblies of God from 2016 to 2022, seeking to discuss and understand the dynamics present in the process of fascistization observed during this period, and its affinity with evangelicals, especially Pentecostals. The highlighted religious institutions possess a broad potential for reproducing information through their discourses, and this directly impacts how the faithful understand the dynamics present; hence the term "Christofascism," as it refers to a dynamic of merging evangelical Christianity with the ongoing fascistization. During this period, the institutions had a considerable media presence, strongly reproducing fascist-leaning discourses and attracting and radicalizing followers in their temples, which directly demonstrates their historical affinities with fascism and, especially, with the expression of fascistization during this period: Bolsonarism. The relationship between religion and politics is permeated by these social dynamics, which increasingly involve their reproduction and, consequently, radicalism. This research aims to understand this dynamic and how it competes for hegemony today.

Abstract: This dissertation aims to discuss the processes of schooling among young workers in Nova Hartz, Rio Grande do Sul, guided by the experiences shared by these subjects in the twentyfirst century. To this end, the research draws on interviews conducted by the author with young workers from that locality, as well as on files collected from the city’s Child Protection Council. These files, consisting of Student Irregular Attendance Reports (FICAI) and records of services and referrals carried out by the city’s social assistance agencies, make it possible to highlight the complexities involved in the ambivalent dynamics of being or not being in the classroom. Within the pulse of these relations, moral conflicts and tensions emerge and are articulated, pointing to fluctuating values attributed to the senses and meanings produced around the act of schooling. Thus, the research relies on the notion of experience as developed by E.P. Thompson, together with Raymond Williams’s reflections on “structures of feeling,” to grasp how these subjects’ “definitions” of this process are constantly reassessed through and within the social environment in which they live, in the face of the contingencies presented by everyday life.
