Title: A práxis da Unioeste com o projeto de extensão das plantas medicinais no bairro Padre Ulrico – Francisco Beltrão/PR.
Autor: Pereira, Rosemari de Souza
Primeiro orientador: Luiz Carlos, Flávio
Abstract: In this research we discuss university praxis based on extension projects developed
by Unioeste, campus of Francisco Beltrão, named as “Recovering Traditional
Knowledge: Cultivation and Use of Medicinal Plants in the Padre Ulrico Neighborhood”,
“Recovering a Cultural Heritage: Knowledge Related to the Cultivation and Use of
Medicinal Plants in the Padre Ulrico Neighborhood”, and “Amarbem/Cimmad
Community Garden”. Coordinated by Professors Luiz Carlos Flávio and Roseli Alves
dos Santos, the projects preserved and strengthened popular knowledge of medicinal
plants in order to promote agroecological practices and encourage collective work
within the territory. The study presents the trajectory of these extension activities and
discusses their theoretical foundations, objectives, challenges, and the social impacts
generated in the lived spaces of the participants. The reflection is situated within the
context of Brazilian university extension and addresses its historical process of
institutionalization and its contributions to a transformative relationship between
university and society. This qualitative study is based on a literature review, interviews,
and field observation, and also analyzes how the practices developed impacted the
subjects involved and contributed to the appreciation of the relationship between
traditional knowledge and scientific knowledge, especially with regard to the cultivation
and use of medicinal plants.

Title: Assinatura de paleovegetação em testemunho turfoso no Parna das Araucárias - Ponte Serrada/SC
Autor: Girardi, Guilherme Luiz

Abstract: This paper presents the results of palynological and stratigraphic analysis carried out in
the Araucárias National Park in Ponte Serrada, Santa Catarina, located in the Araucaria
Subtropical Plateau. The objective of this research was to characterize the
paleoenvironment of the core area of the Mixed Ombrophilous Forest, located in the
Araucárias National Park – Ponte Serrada, Santa Catarina, over the last 34,000 years.
Every 10 cm, the color of the material was described using the Munsell Color Chart; wet
particle size analysis was performed; organic matter content was determined by H2O2
dispersion and weight loss on ignition; the radiocarbon age was determined by AMS, and
an age-depth model was developed using the rbacon package. Palynomorph analyses
followed standard chemical processing routine in Quaternary Palynology, and Taxonomic
identification of palynomorphs was performed to the lowest possible hierarchical level,
within an 8 cm interval. TILIA 3.0.3 and CONISS software were used to analyze the
palynological data. The materials presented colors ranging from black to very dark gray,
with a high organic matter content. From a granulometric point of view, the sediments
were classified as mud, according to the textural classification proposed by Flemming
(2000), and the radiocarbon age at the base was 29,470 years BP ± 90 years (34,009 Cal
years BP). Therefore, based on cluster analysis, four environmental phases were
established. Since the Upper Pleistocene, the climate has been mild with humidity, which
has changed to increasing temperatures in the present. The results indicate that the campo forest mosaic has always been present, dominated by the Campos, corroborating research
already carried out in other locations in the mid-west and west of Santa Catarina, in the
interior of the Araucaria Subtropical Plateau.

Abstract: This dissertation aims to examine the pedagogical practices adopted in Geography
teaching in the final years of Elementary School, with a particular focus on the use of the
digital platform Canva between 2020 and 2024. The research was conducted in two public
schools in the state of Paraná, Brazil: Colégio Estadual Padre Cirilo, located in the
municipality of Capanema, and Escola Estadual do Campo Sagrada Família, in
Planalto—both under the jurisdiction of the Regional Education Office of Francisco
Beltrão. The study is grounded in the author's professional experiences as a Geography
teacher during a period marked by an expansion of educational technology policies
promoted by the State Department of Education of Paraná (Seed/PR). This period,
particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, required an urgent integration of digital tools
into educational practices, while also exposing significant challenges related to
infrastructure, teacher training, and unequal access to technology. In an effort to make
the teaching and learning process more dynamic and meaningful, the study explored the
use of Canva as a pedagogical tool. The platform was employed in the creation of various
visual materials – such as infographics, posters, and presentations – designed to foster
collaborative and creative construction of geographical knowledge. Despite its potential
to enhance student autonomy and enrich classroom activities, the effective
implementation of Canva relies on minimum technical infrastructure and a methodological
approach that considers the specific needs and contexts of each school and group of
students. The research also raises critical questions about the tension between
technological innovation and the reduction of teacher autonomy. It highlights that the
imposed use of digital platforms can restrict educators to mere content deliverers,
undermining their creative and critical role in the teaching process. Therefore, the
dissertation seeks to reflect on the real contributions of such technologies to education,
questioning whether they truly transform pedagogical practices or simply mask structural
deficiencies within the educational system. Methodologically, the study adopts a
qualitative action-research approach, with an exploratory and bibliographic nature. The
10
theoretical foundation is supported by authors such as Milton Santos, Paulo Freire,
Libâneo, Cavalcanti, among others, in addition to curricular documents such as the
Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and the Paraná State Curriculum
Guidelines. The dissertation is organized into three chapters: the first examines the
development of educational technologies in Paraná since 2017; the second addresses
the use of digital tools in Elementary School and their implications for teaching practices;
and the third presents the practical experiences with Canva, analyzing its impact on
Geography education. The final considerations summarize the main findings and discuss
future perspectives on the use of digital technologies in Geography teaching.

Abstract: This study examines the impacts on a small city in Western Santa Catarina resulting
from the acquisition of the local industry, Parati, by the North American multinational
Kellogg’s. The research analyzes the effects on the local economy, migration flows,
and urban infrastructure, as well as the municipality’s integration into the International
Division of Labor. The methodology was based on a bibliographic review, collection of
quantitative and qualitative data, both primary and secondary, interviews, and fieldwork
in the study area. The results highlight an increase in the city's PIB and PIB per capita,
with the latter surpassing that of nearby cities three to four times larger in population
and complexity, such as Francisco Beltrão, Pato Branco (PR), and Xanxerê (SC).
Additionally, the findings reveal a significant boost in the real state sector, increased
job creation, and contradictions within the Brazilian territory, illustrating the complexity
of industrial dynamics, particularly those involving multinational corporations and their
impact on geographical space
