Abstract: Cultural traditions of German origin, brought by European immigrants, have significantly influenced sustainable rural development in Brazil. In this context, this study aimed to analyze how the culture and identity-related elements of German and European immigrants contributed to addressing sustainability issues within the practices adopted by pioneering family farming households in the rural communities of Marechal Cândido Rondon. The research involved visits to rural properties, utilizing a questionnaire as a data collection tool to support the analysis. The results revealed that, upon settling in rural areas, European descendants had to adapt to local conditions by developing self-sufficient agricultural production practices. Furthermore, they brought with them tools, technical knowledge, and methods geared toward the mechanization of production, thereby contributing to the improvement of agricultural activities. Consequently, it is evident that family farming is essential for the region's cultural, social, and environmental preservation—a fact that necessitates public policies to ensure its continuity and foster sustainable rural development.

Abstract: This thesis examines the role of agroecological technological showcases as instruments of innovation and learning in the agroecological transition in Paraná, highlighting the articulation between science, local knowledge, and technology transfer. It begins with a historical contextualization of agriculture to problematize the diffusionism of the Green Revolution, highlighting its socio-environmental limitations and the processes of exclusion of family farmers. Within this framework, it defends the participatory construction of knowledge and agroecology as a scientific, practical, and political paradigm, oriented towards the redesign of agroecosystems based on diversity, soil health, the use of bio-inputs, short marketing circuits, and social justice. Based on this framework, the research problem is defined as understanding how technological showcases function as innovation and learning devices, with objectives that include characterizing and mapping the actors involved and analyzing the adoption of technologies by family farmers in the Metropolitan, Western, and Southwestern regions of the state. The justification is anchored in the advancement of organic production in Paraná, the inductive role of public policies, and the emergence of open innovation arrangements such as showcases and living labs as responses to the environmental and climate crises. Methodologically, this is a qualitative and exploratory research, developed in two stages articulated with document analysis and a multiple case study involving four showcases: CPRA/Agroecology Research Station (Pinhais), VITAL/Show Rural (Cascavel), CVT/Unioeste (Entre Rios do Oeste), and the Agroecological Systems Area/IDR (Pato &#xD;
Branco). Data collection combined direct observation and semi-structured interviews with 40 participants (farmers, technicians, and researchers), followed by content analysis to integrate empirical evidence and theoretical frameworks. The results indicate that the four showcases comprise a complementary arrangement of research and development, demonstration, and extension. The CPRA is configured as a state-level reference experimental station in training, bio-inputs, agroforestry systems, and environmental education. VITAL operates as a highly visible didactic-expository unit at a mega-fair, with integrated demonstrations supported by a broad inter-institutional network. The CVT/Unioeste prioritizes training and technological development in grains, cassava, weed management, and appropriate machinery, associating participatory certification and field days. In Pato Branco/IDR, certified thematic showcases are linked to short circuits and the techno-economic analysis of production systems, strengthening the link between demonstration and productive decision-making. The interviews reveal convergences around learning by doing, cooperation, motivation, and partnerships, while also highlighting tensions: while farmers emphasize the ethics of care, autonomy, and economic viability, organizers prioritize standardization, indicators, workforce qualification, and funding stability. Structural challenges persist, such as generational succession, gaps in agricultural extension services, resource instability, power asymmetries, and the risk of "protocolization" with the reduction of processes to organic checklists. Even so, the showcases are configured as niches of innovation that, when supported by public policies and multi-stakeholder governance, accelerate the diffusion of practices, reducing risks and strengthening productive, environmental, and sanitary resilience, with repercussions on the supply of healthy food. It is concluded that the technological showcases operate as socio-territorial innovation ecosystems, capable of translating technical-scientific evidence into contextualized and replicable solutions for family farming, with positive impacts on sustainability, income, and public health. For its consolidation and scaling up, institutionalization and continuous funding are recommended; the development of standardized metrics for technical-economic, ecological, and social impacts; the adoption of action-research protocols with deliberative power for farmers; integration with agricultural extension services, credit, and public procurement; and strategies for training and attracting young people with catalytic instruments. Finally, it is proposed to advance quantitative studies that measure the contribution of these showcases to the adoption of technologies and the results of agroecosystems, reinforcing their potential as a replicable model of agroecological transition in the country.

Abstract: Two experiments were conducted on with growing and finishing pigs. In the first experiment, the objective was to evaluate the effects of different levels of soluble protein in potassium hydroxide (PS-KOH) from soybean meal on performance, blood biochemical and hematological profiles, apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD), and features of carcass and meat quality. In the second experiment, the objective was to evaluate the supplementation of different blends of exogenous enzymes on performance, fecal consistency score, blood biochemical and hematological profiles, ATTD, and features of carcass and meat quality. Experiment I: 80 pigs (35.24 kg ± 2.09 kg) intact male hybrids (Landrace × Large White) were used for 88 days in 4 dietary treatments: diet with 75% PS-KOH of FS (FS75), diet with 77% PS-KOH of FS (FS77), diet with 80% PS-KOH of FS (FS80), diet with 85% PS-KOH of FS (FS85) in a randomized block design based on initial body weight, with 10 repetitions and 2 pigs per pen as the experimental unit. Finishing II pigs that consumed the FS75 and FS80 diets showed a higher (P=0.029) mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) than the FS85 diet. Growing II pigs that consumed the FS80 diet showed higher (P=0.005) digestible protein (DP) than those fed the FS75 or FS85 diets. In addition, digestible energy (DE) was higher (P=0.003) in the Growing II pigs fed the FS85 diet than those fed the FS75 or FS77 diets. The finishing pigs in phase II that consumed the FS85 diet had higher (P=0.019) DE than those on the FS77 diet. Animals fed the FS77 diet showed higher (P=0.036) carcass pH 24 hours after slaughter in the Longissimus thoracis muscle than the others. In conclusion, FS with values between 75% and 85% of PS-KOH are indicative of adequate thermal processing and do not harm growing and finishing pigs. Experiment II: A total of eighty entire male hybrid pigs (Landrace × Large White) (24.63 kg ± 0.61 kg) were used, assigned for 92 days to 4 dietary treatments: diet with 6-phytase, endo – 1,4 – β-xylanase (Xylanase), diet with 6-phytase, endo - 1,4 - β-xylanase, endo - 1,3 – β-glucanase (β-glucanase), diet with 6-phytase, endo – 1,4 – βxylanase, protease (Bacillus subtilis) (Protease), diet with 6-phytase, endo – 1,4 – β-xylanase, protease (Aspergillus niger), protease (Bacillus subtilis) (Two proteases), in a randomized block design based on initial body weight, with 10 repetitions and 2 pigs per pen as the experimental unit. The growth pigs phase III that consumed the diet with β-glucanase showed higher (P=0.006) final body weight (FBW) compared to the others. β-glucanase showed higher (P=0.006) daily weight gain (DWG) compared to xylanase, while the feed conversion (FC) for protease and β-glucanase was better (P=0.005) than that of xylanase. In finishing phase I, the &#xD;
 &#xD;
diet with β-glucanase showed better (P=0.014) FC than the diet with protease. Pigs that consumed xylanase in finishing phases I and II combined had higher (P=0.047) DWG than those that consumed two proteases. In the growth phase III, pigs fed with β-glucanase had higher platelet count (PLT) (P=0.023) and procalcitonin (PCT) (P=0.028) than pigs that consumed two proteases. Overall, the ADG was higher (P &lt; 0.05) for pigs in growth phase III that were fed with β-glucanase, while the finishing II pigs showed higher (P&lt;0.05) ADG when consuming xylanase, compared to the protease and two proteases diets. The FCR was higher (P=0.015) in pigs fed diets containing protease and two proteases when compared to xylanase. Pigs that consumed diets containing xylanase and β-glucanase showed higher (P=0.004) drip loss (DL) compared to the diet with two proteases. In conclusion, supplementation with enzyme blends containing carbohydrases provided improvements in zootechnical performance and ADG of growing and finishing pigs, with the blend containing phytase, xylanase, and βglucanase was more effective for growing pigs, while the blend containing phytase and xylanase stood out for finishing pigs.

Abstract: Vegetative propagation by cuttings is widely used in the production of guava seedlings (Psidium guajava L.); however, it presents physiological limitations related to rooting and the initial development of cuttings. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the root and shoot development of cuttings from four guava cultivars using commercial biostimulant products associated with indolebutyric acid (IBA). Two experiments were conducted between February and March 2025, in the seedling nursery of the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste). Experiment I was conducted in a randomized block design, in a 4 × 4 factorial scheme (4 cultivars: Tailandesa, Paluma, Século 21 and Pedro Sato × 4 rooting treatments (IBA, IBA + ComposFix®, IBA + BioRaiz® and IBA + humic acid), with three replications and 20 cuttings per plot. For experiment II, the same design applied in the first experiment was used, in a 2 × 4 factorial scheme (2 Bacillus types × 4 product concentrations: 0, 50, 75 and 100 mL), with three replications, each replication composed of 15 cuttings, totaling 360 cuttings. The cuttings in both experiments were treated with IBA in a hydroalcoholic solution at                    &#xD;
6,000 mg L⁻¹, by quick immersion of the base, and conducted in seedbeds containing washed sand under a protected environment. After 70 days, the percentage of rooted cuttings, number of roots, length of the longest root, number of calluses, number of shoots, shoot length, shoot diameter, and number of leaves were evaluated. The percentage of rooted cuttings did not differ statistically among treatments, although the observed values were satisfactory. It is concluded that biostimulants associated with IBA mainly influence the initial vegetative growth of cuttings, while IBA favors the development of the root system of the cultivar Paluma. The use of biological products associated with indolebutyric acid influenced the initial development of guava cuttings cv. Tailandesa, with responses dependent on the microorganism, with Bacillus subtilis standing out in the early stages of rooting.
