Title: Uma cidade, dois municípios: a dinâmica urbana entre flor da Serra do Sul/PR e o distrito Rene Damo – Palma Sola/SC Autor: Caus, Francisqueli Cristina Primeiro orientador: Leme, Ricardo Carvalho Abstract: This dissertation analyzes the territorial formation, urban expansion, and spatial dynamics existing between the urban center of the municipality of Flor da Serra do Sul, in the state of Paraná, and the Rene Damo district, belonging to the municipality of Palma Sola, in Santa Catarina. The study is based on the observation that, although administratively linked to distinct entities, the two urban nuclei present physical continuity of urban occupation, intense functional integration, and daily relations that exceed formally established territorial boundaries. In this context, we seek to understand the factors responsible for the formation of the continuous urban fabric between the analyzed spaces, as well as to analyze the implications of this configuration for urban planning, territorial management, and local socio-spatial relations. The research is grounded in a qualitative approach, developed through bibliographic review, documentary analysis, cartographic survey, and empirical investigation. Official territorial databases, legislation, historical documents, and urban planning instruments were analyzed, in addition to the application of questionnaires to residents of the Rene Damo district, seeking to understand territorial ties, access to public services, and the sense of belonging established with Flor da Serra do Sul. The dissertation articulates theoretical foundation and empirical analysis of the production of urban space, addressing the role of the agents responsible for its formation and concepts related to contemporary urban transformations, such as diffuse city, diffuse urbanization, urban dispersion, conurbation, and urban voids. It also analyzes the process of creation of new municipalities in Brazil after the 1988 Federal Constitution, with emphasis on the small municipalities of the Immediate Geographic Region of Francisco Beltrão. Finally, it examines the territorial formation of Flor da Serra do Sul, its urban expansion, the spatial integration with the Rene Damo district, and the contradictions related to the delimitation of the interstate boundary. The results demonstrate that the urban expansion of Flor da Serra do Sul was shaped by physical, economic, and institutional factors, especially by the municipality's internal topographic limitations and the availability of favorable areas for occupation in the bordering area of Santa Catarina. It was verified that the Rene Damo district became functionally consolidated as an extension of the urban dynamics of Flor da Serra do Sul, presenting strong social, economic, and territorial integration with the municipality. Empirical surveys showed that the district's population maintains daily relations predominantly linked to the municipality of Paraná, especially regarding access to healthcare, education, commerce, and public services, in addition to expressing a significant sense of territorial belonging in relation to the neighboring city. The research also identified cartographic divergences related to the delimitation of the boundary between Paraná and Santa Catarina, whose effects go beyond the technical dimension by directly affecting an urbanized and densely occupied area. Such conditions produce relevant implications for public management, tax collection, service provision, and territorial planning. It is concluded that the analyzed reality reveals the existence of a functionally integrated territory in which administrative boundaries do not fully correspond to the spatial practices experienced by the population. Within this context, the territorial incorporation of the Rene Damo district into the urban center of Flor da Serra do Sul emerges as a possibility for preserving the municipality's capacity for urban, territorial, and administrative expansion and strengthening. In this sense, the dissertation reaffirms that small cities also present complex urban dynamics and highlights the need for territorial planning and management mechanisms capable of considering the specificities existing in urban border areas. Title: Dinâmica geoeconômica do setor industrial em Renascença – PR Autor: Valandro, Gustavo Navarini Primeiro orientador: Medeiros, Marlon Clovis Abstract: The present study seeks to analyze and understand the geoeconomic dynamics of the industrial sector in the municipality of Renascença (PR), with emphasis on the genesis and evolution of its industrial areas. Therefore, this research aims to understand how the industrialization process developed over time in the municipality, identifying the historical, geographical, and institutional factors that conditioned the creation of Industrial Areas I and II, as well as the impacts of the industrial sector on the local economy. In addition, the study considers the historical process of industrialization and deindustrialization in Brazil, industrialization in the state of Paraná, and the formation of the municipality of Renascença within the context of the occupation and colonization of Southwestern Paraná. The methodology, characterized as qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory, was based on a literature review, the collection of primary and secondary data, interviews, and fieldwork. The results revealed a significant increase in the number of industrial establishments and industrial jobs in the municipality of Renascença following the implementation of industrial development incentive policies by the municipal government during the 1990s. These policies led to the establishment of Industrial Area I in 1995 and Industrial Area II in 2000, marking a milestone in the expansion of industrial activities in the municipality. Title: Transformações na pecuária leiteira brasileira: os impactos no Sudoeste Paranaense Autor: Costa Junior, Nedson Pedro Primeiro orientador: Sampaio, Fernando dos Santos Abstract: Historically marked by significant transformations, the Brazilian dairy sector, driven by market demand for large-scale production and higher quality standards, has been undergoing an intense process of technification, professionalization, and modernization of primary production. This includes the implementation of new methods aimed at increasing productivity and improving efficiency. This process reflects the socioeconomic and spatial changes that have taken place, as well as the level of maturity reached by the dairy production chain. This trajectory has been affecting the permanence of small-scale producers in the activity due to their limited capacity to adapt to new productive dynamics. In this context, the present research examines the recent transformations occurring in the dairy production chain in Brazil, with emphasis on the processes of production centralization and capital accumulation observed in national primary production between 2014 and 2025. The objective is to identify the main impacts and challenges faced by small and medium-sized producers regarding the viability of their continued participation in dairy farming in an economically sustainable and competitive manner, especially in Southwestern Paraná. The analysis of the historical development of the national dairy production chain and its productive structure provided the basis for understanding the current scenario, as well as the main ongoing transformations in dairy farming within capitalist dynamics and the issues concerning small-scale farming. Title: Comércio exterior e cooperativa agroindustriais do Estado do Paraná Autor: Marciniak, Bruna Primeiro orientador: Sampaio, Fernando dos Santos Abstract: This research analyzes the economic development of the state of Paraná through its performance in foreign trade. The focus is on Paraná's exports as a vector of balance and growth, with the state's commercial dynamics as the object of study. As a case study, agricultural cooperatives are investigated, central actors that integrate and drive this commercialization process, acting from primary production to insertion into global markets. The evolution of the export agenda is highlighted, contextualized by the transformation of Brazil's role in the International Division of Labor from the intensification of the globalization process. To this end, the work is structured in two main analytical movements. First, it examines the geopolitical system and Brazil's position in the international scenario, understanding the arrangements and negotiations that shape world trade. Then, it demonstrates how Paraná, through the production of commodities and its industrialization process associated with agribusiness, has consolidated itself as an economy of national relevance, whose dynamism is intrinsically linked to foreign trade. Therefore, it becomes essential to study the transformations that have occurred in the export process in Paraná, as they not only reflect but also condition regional economic development, being strategically mediated by the actions of agricultural cooperatives.
